The Story Behind Today’s Gift
Her family told her to stay small. She was “too much” for them, so they kept asking her to shrink down to a more manageable size. That was what was required of her, if she wanted to keep their love. So she tried to shrink down. But she was so much that she couldn’t always hide her natural size. She kept popping back out, her spirit too big to fit in the little box they had built for her.
Now, she’s a grown woman and she’s starting to realize that maybe she isn’t too much. Maybe she’s just the right size and could even grow bigger. Maybe her soul purpose is to BE LOVE in a huge expansive form. Maybe it’s more important to be her True Self, even though small people get scared of women so full of glorious muchness! She’s beginning an important journey of self-acceptance and spiritual growth. Yet, old habits die hard, it’s still a battle between her True Self and the smaller less-vibrant self that other people seem to prefer.
Her soul sister sees her True Self and thinks it’s so BIG, so wonderfully, perfectly formed! This soul sister is excited about her friend’s journey of self-discovery and hopes that she will fully embrace her beautiful size. She loves her so much!
Black Obsidian is a powerful grounding stone that acts as a mirror, revealing the stark truth. It refuses to let us hide behind little white lies that reduce the truth into something more comfortable or manageable. This is not a gentle stone for people with small spirits – Black Obsidian is a mighty stone for big souls. It commands us to be more real and to be true to ourselves, regardless of what other people think. It helps us to recognize and discard old mental conditioning based on lies and convenience to others. It shows us who we really are and gives us the courage to step into our full power. Black Obsidian also helps us keep our emotional equilibrium. It helps us to not take things so personally when other people are flinging their emotions around. It gives us a steady place to stand, so we feel safe, calm and empowered. Black Obsidian pushes us forward, asking us to grow up, to take responsibility for our own impact and to be the person we were always meant to be.
