The Story Behind Today’s Gift
She’s 13 years old and her Dad got engaged last year. She’s glad her Dad is happy and thank goodness the fiancée is nice. She’s not the wicked stepmother type. She knows how to braid hair and gives good fashion advice. They can have ‘girl talk’ together and she’s helpful with homework too. Yeah, Dad’s fiancée is alright. But she’s more bossy than Mom and Dad. She’s always encouraging her to do things and won’t just let her be. Sometimes she wishes that her Dad had stayed single longer so it could be just the two of them again. Sometimes she feels territorial and just wants her own space and her own parents and her own life.
