Azurite
Energy Vibrations

Mine-to-Market Azurite nuggets are a rare find! These completely nature little round nuggets are called "blueberries." The come from a small mine that takes environmental protection very seriously. Most of them are a single round Azurite crystal, but a few are fused together. Most are pure Azurite, but a few have a small bit of green Malachite fused to them, often like a little moon next to a planet. These little blueberries are soft and fragile, so needed to be handled with care. Keep these ones on a shelf or in a bowl, rather than in your pocket or in a medicine bag.

Azurite from United States

This Azurite comes directly from a small-scale mine in Utah, USA.  It is legally owned and operated by a single miner who uses hand tools to extract the Azurite and Malachite.  The miner takes his own safety seriously, and won’t pursue a vein if the conditions are too dangerous.  This mine has high standards for environmental protection and even cleans up after older defunct mines in the area.

This supplier owns and operates a small-scale mine in Moab, Utah.  The area was originally mined for Copper, but today it is only hand-mined for Azurite and Malachite.  The stones are very soft and require a gentle touch and the miner takes environmental concerns very seriously.

I met this miner briefly at the 2019 Denver Show, but he had already sold out of most of his stock.  I sought him out again in 2022 after shows resumed following a pause during the pandemic.  This time I was early and was able to buy all his remaining small stock of Azurite “blueberries” and Azurite-Malachite berries.  Old miners are a delight to talk to, they have a wealth of knowledge and an earthy sense of humor.  This particular miner loves the beautiful land he is fortunate enough to work and considers himself a steward.  In addition to the care he takes at his own mine, he has also spent the last 20 years gradually cleaning up the damage left behind by previous mines in the area.

Azurite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Published May 2017  •  Updated March 2024  •  Read Time: 8 minutes
Azurite is a semi-precious gemstone with a brilliant blue color like the sky over the desert or on a winter’s day.  It is rare secondary copper mineral created by the weathering of ore deposits.  It most often forms as a massive opaque mineral, but it can also form beautiful prismatic crystals.  Azurite’s history dates far back into antiquity as a source for copper ore, medicine, jewelry, and as pigment for blue paint.  Azurite is intimately entwined with art history and was the most common source for blue paint in medieval and Renaissance paintings.  This beautiful mineral has also been considering a healing stone for thousands of years.  Pliny the Elder describes it in Natural History as a medicine for hair and eyelashes.  In modern crystal healing, Azurite is a stone of wisdom and truth.  Its energy will benefit anyone who hungers for justice or seeks deep emotional healing.
