Healing Properties of Celestite

Spiritual: Celestite has an exceptionally high vibration that calls forth the Heavenly Host to guide and protect us. It sharpens our intuitive abilities and inner vision, as well as our ability to hear our Spirit Guides and messages from the Divine. Celestite is a stone of spiritual wisdom, which can guide us along our spiritual path, allowing us to advance steadily and understand more than we currently imagine possible. Celestite is a marvelous stone for meditation, prayer, and manifestation, and gently opens the Third Eye, increasing intuition and psychic connection. Celestite is attuned to the Third Eye and Crown Chakras and linked to the astrological sign of Gemini. It is connected to the element of Wind and vibrates to the numbers 2 and 8.

Emotional: Celestite has an incredibly soothing energy that gently leads us to feel uplifted and serene. It promises us that we are safe and protected and to let go of irrational fear and paranoia. Celestite is a pleasant stone, encouraging us to be likewise; patient, kind, and possessing a ready sense of humor. It brings hope when all seems in despair. Celestite brings good fortune and shows us that the path to freedom and joy is defined by acts of love and respect.

Mental: Celestite helps us to analyze complex ideas and integrate rational logic with intuition. It reveals the big picture so that we can fully comprehend a situation or idea and know the many different options with which we may approach it. Celestite is also extremely helpful for exploring and embracing ideas and events which defy our normal logic, such as miracles and other Divine happenings. Celestite also makes an exquisite gift for musicians, dancers, or anyone involved in the arts, as it unites creativity with a heady sense of spiritual bliss.

Physical: Celestite is recommended when we are worried and stressed because of problems with our body.  If we are in pain, Celestite helps us to stay calm and to consciously relax our muscles and let go of mental tension.  It reminds us that worrying never helps, and in fact it distracts us from the healing work which is actually beneficial.  If we fear the worst, Celestite shares its bright light of loving energy with us, cutting through the despair and giving us hope and self-confidence.  It reminds us that the worst rarely happens and that no matter what happens, we will get through it.  Celestite is a wonderful talisman for problems associated with the eyes, ears and throat.  It is also good for stress-related digestive problems, such as ulcers or elimination issues.

Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Mineral Family: Celestite is a beautiful crystal and a Sulfate mineral. Sulfates are a group of minerals whose crystal structure has four Oxygen atoms forming a square with a Sulfur atom in the center. There are approximately 200 types of Sulfates, with Gypsum and Baryte being very common and the rest being quite rare. Celestite is one of these rare varieties and can be colorless, white, light red, green, blue, or brown. The most desirable color is blue Celestite.

Formation: Most Celestite forms in sedimentary rocks such as Limestone, Dolomite, and Sandstone. Occasionally it forms in hydrothermal deposits. Well formed tabular crystals are one of the hallmarks of Celestite, with crystals more than 30 inches (75 cm) long having been found in some locations. Thick beds of Celestite are also common, with the largest being between 10-20 feet (3-6 meters) deep, found in California.

Mining: Typically commercially mined in primary deposits. Celestite is one of the richest sources for Strontium, which is used to make the red color in fireworks and signal flairs.

Enhancements: All Celestites on the market are natural, enhanced only through tumbling, cutting, and polishing.

History of Celestite

Celestite is a relatively “new” healing stone whose healing properties have only recently been explored. Its name comes from the Latin word caelestis, meaning “heavenly,” a word which refers to the light blue color of many collector’s specimens.

The Supply Chain

The Supply Chain is long, but likely clean.

The Lapidary/Importer

This Celestite was tumbled in China.

Lapidary factories in China are typically safe for workers.

The Importer is a family business run by a married couple.

The Importer pays its employees fairly.

Sourcing Relationship

I first encountered the US wholesaler at the 2015 Franklin, North Carolina Gem and Mineral Show.  They carry a wide-variety of tumbled stones, both common and rare.  The tumbled Celestite and specialty Obsidian particularly caught my eye, since no other source carries them.  The owners are a married couple, he takes care of their larger stones, while she is the self-proclaimed, “Tumbled Stone Queen.” The Queen knows her stock inside and out and we’ve spoken in person and by phone about the geology and origins of various minerals.

The amount of middlemen involved does give me pause.  I only purchase stones from this source if I can’t find the stone elsewhere and I am confident about mining and lapidary conditions for the countries in question.

Always a wonderful experience. Good energy. I save and buy all my crystals here for ethical sourcing and the thoughtful care put into the whole process. Always recomending. Thank you for the work you do.

  2. Beth S. (Kentucky)

I’m so glad I ordered this second Celestite! The two have much the same energy, but each is beautiful in its own way, and while the other one is so sparkly and shimmery that it seems to fizz right up into the atmosphere, this more substantial, translucent one seems to combine that floaty, celestial energy with a little more groundedness, in a light, peaceful way. About the “slightly sticky texture” noted in the product details: when I first took it from its packaging, it did feel a little sticky, but after sitting for a few days in an open bowl that’s no longer so, and its surface polish seems enhanced. Holding it in my closed hand doesn’t make stickiness return. While it’s a soft, fragile stone needing gentler treatment than some, this Celestite is up to being held, meditated with, and used for reasonably gentle purposes.

  6. Jennifer S. (Colorado)

The celestite is another wonderful, peaceful crystal! It’s one of those crystals that I love, but they are so soft they are harder to find in a tumbled form you can easily hold in your hand. I also love the light blue color and silvery flashes!

The shimmers and depths in the celestite are absolutely gorgeous. Just turning it this way and that is so fascinating that I find myself doing this for minutes at a time almost every time I look at it. Unscheduled meditations?

The Celestite was mailed the next business day, but took an unusually long time to travel internationally. Typically, international packages arrive in 2-3 weeks. But for some reason, this one took a full month!
