Galena Healing Properties

Galena is often mined industrially with a significant environmental impact. But this tumbled Galena was hand-gathered in Sweden. Galena's energy is both inspiring and grounding. It encourages us to dream of castles in the clouds - but also to build the foundation under that castle so that our dream can become a reality.

Ethically Sourced Galena

When we know better, we do better. Ethical sourcing is a constantly evolving process. If the original sourcing for the stone still passes Moonrise Crystals’ current standards, it will be restocked as soon as possible. If the original sourcing is no longer acceptable, it will be restocked when/if a better supplier can be found.

Know where your crystals come from

This Galena was hand-gathered in Sweden by a prospector.  Sweden has one of the best environmental records in the world.

Learn More About Ethical Mining

This gem dealer is a Danish prospector. He runs a small one-man wholesale business. He prospects for stones across northern Europe and Greenland. Rough stones are sent to China to be drum-tumbled. Factory conditions are safe for workers.

Learn More About Ethical Lapidaries

I first met this source at the 2020 Tucson Gem Show. I was looking for a better source for Nuummite and found a new one that specialized in stones from Greenland and Northern Europe. The owner is an old prospector who has been in the business for almost 50 years and he has STORIES! We talked for 2 hours straight and he provided me with incredibly detailed information. Without reservation, I bought some of everything.

Galena is a silvery mineral and the most important lead ore.  It melts at a low temperature and was first smelted in prehistoric campfires.  Thousands of years later, it would be instrumental in creating the first radios and other electronics.  Unsurprisingly, it is a stone for transformation and for having an open mind.  It helps us to be more than what we have been, to embrace new beginnings, and to be curious about, rather than dismayed, by complexity.  Galena is a Sulfide mineral that looks very similar […]
