I love the soft, sea-green Opal. It's one of the sweetest, gentlest stones ever.

Green Opal
Energy Vibrations

Green Opals are found in several locations around the world, one of the rarer deposits is this one in Bulgaria. It is hand-mined by an old Bulgarian prospector who traded it to an old Danish prospector, who sold it to Moonrise Crystals. This new stock has a pretty color, but there's more scratches and tiny cavities from matrix rock being knocked off during tumbling. Green Opal is a wonderful choice for self-care, these rougher pieces are a good reminder that we don't need to be perfect to be beautiful.

Ethically Sourced

Green Opal from Bulgaria

This Green Opal comes from a small claim in Bulgaria. The miner has been working his claim for decades using hand tools and small machinery. It has a low environmental impact and is relatively low risk for the miner.

This gem dealer is a Danish prospector. He runs a small one-man wholesale business. He prospects for stones across northern Europe and Greenland. Rough stones are sent to China to be drum-tumbled. Factory conditions are safe for workers.

I first met this source at the 2020 Tucson Gem Show. I was looking for a better source for Nuummite and found a new one that specialized in stones from Greenland and Northern Europe. The owner is an old prospector who has been in the business for almost 50 years and he has STORIES! We talked for 2 hours straight and he provided me with incredibly detailed information. Without reservation, I bought some of everything.
