This Crystal Rocks!

Fair WagesSafe Factory

Infinite has stripes of different Serpentine rocks, in this case, the light green is most likely Chrysotile while the dark green could be Lizardite or Antigorite. Infinite is found only in South Africa and India, the Indian stones tend to to be light green or neon green. Infinite is a wonderful stone to bring to a yoga practice or to a meditation session, it would be fantastic in massage specifically for moving energy in the body.

Ethically Sourced Infinite

Know where your crystals come from

This Infinite comes from Tamil Nadu, India.  It may be associated with old asbestos mines.  Asbestos mining is now banned in India.

This lapidary hand-polishes stones in Mumbai, India. It is owned by two long-time friends and business partners. Unusual for India, factory workers have safe conditions and are paid fairly. It is also an exporter and sells exclusively at large gem shows.

I first met this source at the 2017 Denver Gem Show. Our first encounter was short since it was my last day of shopping and I had already spent most of my budget, but their polished stock was the highest quality I had ever seen. A few months later, we met again in Tucson and this time I made sure to visit them at the beginning of the show!

In 2019, I was able to sit down with both owners and have a lengthy conversation about sourcing. Unlike most lapidaries, they were willing to speak with me in-depth about how they ensure their business is ethical. We talked about individual mines in India as well as how they source from other countries. We also talked about how they treat their own workers and about the links between business, karma, and God. Their willingness to talk and their pleasure at the conversation made me eager to develop and deepen this relationship.

Infinite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Published October 2015  •  Updated December 2022  •  Read Time: 5 minutes
Serpentine is a general name given to a family of 16 closely-related soft green minerals.  Sometimes these minerals are called by their scientific name, like Lizardite, while others have marketing names like Infinite and Healerite.  Sometimes these marketing names help identify a specific deposit, while other times they simply drive sales.  It is easy to carve and polish, in fact it was used to make one of the oldest human figurines over 30,000 years ago! Serpentine is a wonderful stone for meditation and chakra healing.  It can be use to awaken the kundalini serpent, and to explore topics as diverse as cleansing, sex and trauma. […]
