Words cannot begin to describe the sensations and emotions that flowed through as I unwrapped and gleefully held each precious stone. When ordering from Moonrise crystals, I always spend a little extra knowing at least one stone will remain with me….at least for a bit. Others have traveled to the hands of friends and strangers who are baffled at how the stone mirrors their inner world. In those times, am simply the vessel that gets the crystals to their rightful keeper, and I’m grateful for the role (though not always easy🤣). Not once have I questioned the hands the crystals pass through or wonder if highly sensitive people like myself will struggle with any part of the energies. Grateful to the loving kindness, Julie, that you have filled your life and business with.

Supply Chain for Kunzite

This Kunzite comes from artisanal miners in Minas Gerais, Brazil.  Artisanal mining for Kunzites has a low environmental impact.

This lapidary hand-polishes stones in Mumbai, India. It is owned by two long-time friends and business partners. Unusual for India, factory workers have safe conditions and are paid fairly. It is also an exporter and sells exclusively at large gem shows.

I first met this source at the 2017 Denver Gem Show. Our first encounter was short since it was my last day of shopping and I had already spent most of my budget, but their polished stock was the highest quality I had ever seen. A few months later, we met again in Tucson and this time I made sure to visit them at the beginning of the show!

In 2019, I was able to sit down with both owners and have a lengthy conversation about sourcing. Unlike most lapidaries, they were willing to speak with me in-depth about how they ensure their business is ethical. We talked about individual mines in India as well as how they source from other countries. We also talked about how they treat their own workers and about the links between business, karma, and God. Their willingness to talk and their pleasure at the conversation made me eager to develop and deepen this relationship.

Kunzite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Published February 2015  •  Updated August 2024  •  Read Time: 6 minutes
Kunzite is the gemological name for the mineral Spodumene.  Most Spodumene are a dull grey, in fact the name means “ash grey.”  But on rare occasions this grey mineral transforms like a phoenix into brilliant and brightly-colored crystals.  If the crystals are pink, purple or golden, they are called Kunzite.  If they are green, they are called Hiddenite.  Each color sing of love and joy.  Its energy tells us that we are loved and we are more than just acceptable, we are truly worthy of great pride.  Kunzite is most often sold in the metaphysical market, but the finest crystals are reserved for top jewelry stores, in particular Tiffany & Co.
