Kyanite naturally grows long slender crystals, making it an ideal choice for a crystal wand. These Kyanite wands have only been lightly polished to make them smooth and to round the edges. Kyanite is one of the best stones for cleansing spaces and your own energy field. Use it to add peace and serenity.

Ethically Sourced Kyanite

Know where your crystals come from

This Kyanite comes from artisanal miners in Jharkhand, India.  Artisanal mining for Kyanite has a low environmental impact.

This lapidary hand-polishes stones in Mumbai, India. It is owned by two long-time friends and business partners. Unusual for India, factory workers have safe conditions and are paid fairly. It is also an exporter and sells exclusively at large gem shows.

I first met this source at the 2017 Denver Gem Show. Our first encounter was short since it was my last day of shopping and I had already spent most of my budget, but their polished stock was the highest quality I had ever seen. A few months later, we met again in Tucson and this time I made sure to visit them at the beginning of the show!

In 2019, I was able to sit down with both owners and have a lengthy conversation about sourcing. Unlike most lapidaries, they were willing to speak with me in-depth about how they ensure their business is ethical. We talked about individual mines in India as well as how they source from other countries. We also talked about how they treat their own workers and about the links between business, karma, and God. Their willingness to talk and their pleasure at the conversation made me eager to develop and deepen this relationship.

Kyanite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Published July 2014  •  Updated July 2022  •  Read Time: 6 minutes
Kyanite is a fascinating nesosilicate mineral, closely related to Garnet and Topaz.  It is typically sold as blue blades, but can also be green or black.  While most crystals only have a single hardness level, Kyanite is unique in that it is relatively fragile when it is a long blade, but fairly strong when it is short!  Among crystal healers, it is considered one of the very few “self-cleansing” crystals which constantly clean the energy of everything around them as well as maintaining its own perpetually-clean energy.  Kyanite has a peaceful and serene vibration and is an excellent choice for meditation and for opening the Third Eye Chakra.  It is a phenomenal crystal ally take to therapy and can help us to clearly understand ourselves and others.
