Kyanite is a fascinating nesosilicate mineral, closely related to Garnet and Topaz. It is typically sold as blue blades, but can also be green or black. While most crystals only have a single hardness level, Kyanite is unique in that it is relatively fragile when it is a long blade, but fairly strong when it is short! How incredibly shimmering this Kyanite is! Its glistening comes from different depths within its semitransparent surface and the silvery shimmers are tinged with blue. They’re so bright that in some lights they cast reflections. I love this little stone’s dense weight, too. In only one day with it I’ve already learned that it knows what’s essential and what isn’t.
