The crystals have arrived and my heart felt full when I opened the package. (the way you packed everything is an art in itself) What a gorgeous bundle - thank you!

Supply Chain for Libyan Desert Glass

This Libyan Desert Glass comes from the Great Sand Sea, near Siwa, Egypt.  The majority of Libyan Desert Glass is sold to Morocco without any paperwork.  This particular inventory comes from the Egyptian side of the border and has legal paperwork. Libyan Desert Glass is found largely by chance and has a low environmental impact and is safe for miners.

This supplier is a small wholesaler who specializes in only a few gems, including Libyan Desert Glass.  His source is the Egyptian miner and he was able to share specific details from an ethics perspective.

I met this supplier at the 2022 Denver Show.  One of the gems on my Wish List was Libyan Desert Glass and I was actively on the hunt for it.  I had already spoken to a few potential suppliers and dismissed them from an ethics perspective.  The story I kept hearing was that the main supplier in the industry is a Moroccan wholesaler.  That supplier lives more than 1000 miles from the source and it seems likely that this rare yellow gem is being traded without proper legal paperwork.  When I met my supplier, I asked about his source and was delighted to learn it was Egyptian miner in the Great Sand Sea with the legal rights to mine and trade.  We happily discussed ethical issues openly, which is rare and refreshing.

What a gorgeous bundle – thank you!

I was floored by the crystals you choose for me- they are stunning! The Libyan Desert glass was just as warm and glowing as expected. I think its a sign my solar plexus chakra could use some attention. I didn’t realize just how special and meteoric they were when I purchased.

  3. OJ N. (New York)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! My beautiful crystals came yesterday. The tektites feel so good, as does the Libyan desert glass.

  4. Bailie C. (Nebraska)

I really like the libyan desert glass, the color is very similar to the color of sand so it is like having a piece of the desert in a solid form
