I’m beyond delighted to have the blue pietersite! It’s a gorgeous little stone! I love the chatoyance and swirls of rust and white through the blue!

Energy Vibrations

These are jewelry-quality Pietersite slices, each one is gorgeous and shimmery! These are mine-to-market, coming from the original mine that first introduced Pieteriste to the world. If you have a preference between blue or golden-red, include that in the order notes. Energetically they are fabulous for transformation and new beginnings. They are also ideal for healing after a traumatic experience that requires deep processing.

Ethically Sourced

Pietersite from Namibia

This Pietersite was comes from Hopeville Farm, a mine in Namibia.  It is a pit mine with a low environmental impact and is safe for miners.

This gem dealer is a family business in the USA. It is a husband and wife team without any employees. They both buy and sell at gemshows in the Western United States.

I first met this supplier on the last day of the 2017 Denver Gem Show. I took one glance at their booth and realized that we buy from many of the same lapidaries. We also love the same size of stones and the same high quality. But while virtually every other source sells in bulk bags, this wholesaler allows me to handpick the best and leave the rest. At first, we played by the rules of the mineral industry and didn’t discuss sourcing. But I know where their crystals come from. And they know, I know. And I know, they know, I know. We’re a very knowledgeable cohort.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, this relationship deepened considerably since I was able to restock with them when it was impossible to buy from my usual suppliers in South Africa and Hong Kong. The couple invited me to visit their home and allowed me to handpick for hours. After our business was concluded, we shared a bottle of wine and talked. Nowadays, we’ve been breaking the rules of the industry – we’re talking quietly but openly about ethical sourcing.

Pietersite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Pietersite is a rare multicolored crystal closely related to Tigers Eye.  Both stones get their coloring when a naturally blue stone is exposed to the air, and the iron inside oxidizes red and then eventually transforms into a golden stone.  For Tigers Eye, this process is smooth and creates straight stripes in a single color.  Pietersite is created when a geological disturbance causes the stone to be folded, fractured, and woven back together.  Instead of monochromatic stirpes, a kaleidoscope of shifting colors appears.  Pietersite is a stone of new beginnings.  Its energy helps us feel steady during times of chaos, conflict, and change.
