Pink scolite is as fun as expected. I'm excited to utilize the Lithium in combo with my other work I've been doing etc. They're all spectacular!

Supply Chain for Pink Scolecite

This Scolecite comes from artisanal miners in Pune, Maharashtra, India.  Scolecite is a fragile mineral that can only be mined by hand and has a low environmental impact.

This lapidary hand-polishes stones in Mumbai, India. It is owned by two long-time friends and business partners. Unusual for India, factory workers have safe conditions and are paid fairly. It is also an exporter and sells exclusively at large gem shows.

I first met this source at the 2017 Denver Gem Show. Our first encounter was short since it was my last day of shopping and I had already spent most of my budget, but their polished stock was the highest quality I had ever seen. A few months later, we met again in Tucson and this time I made sure to visit them at the beginning of the show!

In 2019, I was able to sit down with both owners and have a lengthy conversation about sourcing. Unlike most lapidaries, they were willing to speak with me in-depth about how they ensure their business is ethical. We talked about individual mines in India as well as how they source from other countries. We also talked about how they treat their own workers and about the links between business, karma, and God. Their willingness to talk and their pleasure at the conversation made me eager to develop and deepen this relationship.

Pink Scolecite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Scolecite is a sweet Zeolite crystal that grows in thin long needles.  Sometimes the needles grow so closely together that they fuse together.  But when polished, the individual needle crystals can be seen.  Scolecite is usually white, but can be pink or orange.  Most of the Pink Scolecite sold to collectors comes from huge Basalt mines in India.  The Basalt is used for roads and railways, while the Scolecite and other secondary minerals are picked out by artisanal miners and sold abroad.  Pink Scolecite is a peace stone with a very warm and loving energy. It lifts us up, helps us to be well, and encourages us to give the same […]

Thank you for choosing such a beautiful, sweet Pink Scolecite for me. I love its sweet feel, which is both similar to white Scolecite, with that clean feeling like standing in a waterfall, but it does seem warmer. The difference you mentioned between emotional intelligence and social intelligence makes a good comparison to the white and pink variants of Scolecite.
