Rainbow Obsidian is a rare variety of naturally-colorful Obsidian found mainly in Jalisco, Mexico. It wonderful colors are created by nanoparticles of Hedenbergite caught within the volcanic glass. All Obsidians are grounding and encourage us to love truth, but Rainbow Obsidian also encourages us to have hope and to keep our chin up. It is a great stone to work with when we are struggling with a major problem that makes us feel gloomy and helpless. The Rainbow Obsidian is magnificent. It’s the first one I’ve seen in person and no photo prepared me. Its colors remind me of the Lagoon Nebula, an affirmation of creation and light, their mysterious beginnings in the darkness of space.

I was delighted to receive them, particularly the Rainbow Obsidian.The egg shape evokes the “Golden Egg” card a friend recently pulled for me in a reading- reminding me to go inward and turn the dark to light, becoming comfortable with vulnerability and essence. The bands are beautiful in the sun, especially towards the “top” of the egg. The imagery works beautifully with what I had in mind!
