Supply Chain for Rainforest Jasper

This Rainforest Jasper comes from a small-scale mine in Western Australia. Small-scale Jasper mining in Australia has a low environmental impact and is safe for miners.

This supplier is a family-owned mine and wholesaler in Perth, Australia.  They mine several minerals in Western Australia and trade with mine owners in other parts of Australia.  Some of their stones are sold directly to lapidaries to be polished and re-sold, while others are sent to lapidaries to be polished and then returned to the family business.

I met this supplier at the 2023 Denver Show when a huge polished Tiger Iron standing next to glossy photos of Australian wildlife caught my eye.  A quick glance confirmed that almost every stone on the table was from Western Australia.  I introduced myself and was delighted to meet a friendly miner.  While I often have to casually tiptoe around ethical questions, he and I struck up a rapport and were able to speak freely.  The booth wasn’t busy so there was time to talk.  We discussed environmental protection in the Outback and mining reclamation projects.  He shared how the various Australian mine owners do business with each other and was able to confirm several of my assumptions and suspicions.  He’s a lovely human and I am excited to do business with him for many years to come.

Rainforest Jasper is a beautiful green and brown Rhyolite found only in Queensland, Australia.  While most of Australia is a dry desert, Queensland boasts an ancient rainforest.  Because Rainforest Jasper has such a high silica content, it often has spots of pure quartz, like little pools of water, hidden in the forest.  Energetically, it is one of the very best stones for connecting to mother nature, especially animals  It is a perfect stone for anyone with a pet who want to communicate better with our furry, feathered or scaly friends.  It encourages us to be a champion and protector of the earth, and of all creatures great and small.
