Sourcing Relationship

I first met this source at the 2014 Tucson Gem Show. A language barrier coupled with the quick pace of the gem show, makes it difficult to discuss sensitive or complicated topics. Every year I speak with the owner, often asking questions about the same stones, but getting slightly different answers. The communication problem makes me highly selective about which stones I will buy from her. If the stone is from mainland China, and I can independently determine its likely mining origin, I will buy it since short supply chains are important. If a stone is from another country, I am more cautious.

In 2020, I became friends with a German wholeseller who has personally visited the Hong Kong supplier and was able to provide me with detailed information about working conditions.

Rainforest Jasper is a beautiful green and brown Rhyolite found only in Queensland, Australia. While most of Australia is a dry desert, Queensland boasts an ancient rainforest. Because Rainforest Jasper has such a high silica content, it often has spots of pure quartz, like little pools of water, hidden in the forest. I am so happy to say that I got my *beautiful* crystals on Saturday!! Julie, they were so gorgeously packaged, I was in awe!! The care and attention you took was apparent and appreciated. You even put the info cards in alphabetical order!! The package was in my mailbox all morning with the sun out in full. I opened them around 11am, definitely time for them to get nice and warm. So when I opened everything, all the stones were warm to the touch and just felt so welcoming and comforting. I took a little video of them in my palm outside in the and they looked breathtaking!!!
