Healing Properties of Girasol Rose Quartz
Spiritual: Girasol Quartz is a powerful stone for anyone on a spiritual path and particularly good for energy healers, such as Reiki practitioners. It encourages our energy to flow freely and to be directed as needed for healing and transformation. Equally important, Girasol Quartz helps energy healers to maintain healthy boundaries and not give away energy indiscriminately. Girasol Quartz is attuned to the Heart (4th) Chakra and linked to the astrological signs of Taurus and Libra. It is connected to the elements of Storm and vibrates to the number 7.
Emotional: Girasol Quartz assists us in understanding and clarifying our feelings, especially ones connected to love or sensuality. It helps us be true to ourselves and to confidently claim our heart’s desire. Girasol Quartz, like other varieties of Rose Quartz, has an incredibly soothing effect on the emotions. From reducing daily worry to healing major emotional trauma, Girasol Quartz is an incredibly versatile healing stone. Girasol Quartz is also very good at helping us create regular self-care rituals and routines which help us remain emotionally healthy and strong.
Mental: Girasol Quartz is a stone for helping us visualize goals that will bring us joy and direct our energies towards that path. It enhances both communication and creativity. Girasol Quartz is especially good for any “wisdompreneur,” a business person working in areas that call for great wisdom, such as therapy, life coaching, psychics, etc. It helps us remain in our integrity and to always choose the path of real love.
Physical: Girasol Quartz is said to be a stabilizing and strengthening stone for the physical heart. It is also commonly used to treat sexual disorders, especially those with a psychosomatic origin. Girasol Quartz may also be used to treat chronic fatigue syndrome, and to help with immune system imbalances.
Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Mineral Family: Girasol Quartz is a variety of Rose Quartz, which is in turn a Silicate mineral. Silicate minerals are the largest family of minerals, including more than 25% of all known minerals and 40% of all common minerals. In addition to being a major part of the Earth’s crust, Silicate minerals have also been found on the moon and in meteorites. Silicates are minerals which contain the elements Silicon (a light gray shiny metal) and Oxygen (a colorless gas). Together, these two elements form a tetrahedra – a shape similar to a pyramid – with a Silicon atom in the center and Oxygen atoms at each of the three corners. These tetrahedras connect with other chemical structures, in six different ways, to form various minerals and rocks. There are six main groups of Silicate minerals, and these main groups are further subdivided into secondary subdivisions, such as Quartz and Feldspar. Quartz is a large mineral family in its own right and its members come in every shade of the rainbow. Colorless Quartz is called Clear Quartz or Rock Crystal. Yellow Quartz is Citrine. Green Quartz is Prasiolite. Brown Quartz is Smoky Quartz. Pink Quartz is, of course, Rose Quartz. The most highly prized variety of all is Amethyst, or purple Quartz. Girasol Quartz is a type of Rose Quartz that has a milky or pale orange hue.
Formation: Girasol Quartz is created when liquid magma from a volcanic explosion cools down and transforms into igneous rocks. During this cooling down period, silica acid bubbles shift from being a gas/liquid into a solid compound. The bubble becomes a hollow space in the igneous rock and the silica acid becomes Quartz crystals. Trace particles of iron, manganese, or titanium within the silica acid give Rose Quartz its pink color, otherwise the silica acid would transform into Clear Quartz.
Mining: In a few locations, Rose Quartz is found in large enough deposits to justify commercial mining. More often, Rose Quartz is a secondary mineral found within other commercial mines.
Enhancements: All Rose Quartzes are natural, enhanced only by tumbling, cutting, and polishing.
History of Girasol Rose Quartz
Girasol was “discovered” relatively recently by the metaphysical community and so it was not included in any early lapidaries, texts that describe gemstones and their powers. However, Rose Quartz has been used to make jewelry since long before the dawn of civilization. It is certainly possible that it was also used for healing and spiritual purposes. From this, it can be inferred that Girasol Quartz may have been similarly used.

I have been doing business with this source since 2014. They are the oldest tumbling company in the world and have more varieties, in more sizes, than any other known source. The company started in California in the 1950s and was eventually bought by a British immigrant who had young sons. Eventually the company moved to South Africa in order to be closer to the source of their best-selling stone and to have the legal rights to export it. The company is now run by the sons and their childhood best friend.
The current owners visit many small and industrial-size mines personally. For artisanal-mined deposits in sub-Sahara Africa, the owners work with Gem Dealers who deal directly with the part-time miners. The majority of these Gem Dealers are women. Some, but not all, of their stones are labeled with country-of-origin. For those that aren’t, I ask the owners directly. As I’ve learned more about mining practices in individual countries, I have become increasingly selective about what I will purchase from them. However, they remain my preferred source for most of the stones I sell from sub-Sahara Africa.
