Selenite Healing Properties

Gorgeous Selenite hearts mined and polished by a single small business. Each piece is a brilliant white that flashes in the light and sings with high energy. Hold it gently in your hands to bring clarity to your heart and mind. Or keep it near your other crystals to cleanse and charge their energy. Heart shaped Selenite reminds us to keep our love pure and fresh. Place it on a love alter to attract a new lover or to remind you to always meet your current lover with the same excitement as when you first began.

Ethically Sourced Selenite

Know where your crystals come from

This Selenite comes from a small-scale Selenite mine in Morocco.  The mining occurs underground in shallow tunnels with a low environmental impact.

Learn More About Ethical Mining

This mine and lapidary is a family business in Morocco. The owner of the mine polishes some of his stock and leaves the rest rough. The business is also an exporter and sells exclusively at large gem shows.

Learn More About Ethical Lapidaries

I first met the owner of the mine and lapidary at the 2017 Tucson Gem Show. Most of his stones were rough, rather than polished, but what caught my eye was his beautifully polished Selenite which came in a variety of shapes and colors. I asked him to tell me about his business and he proudly told me that he had built the business up from nothing 20 years ago and his sons will inherit it when he is ready to retire. We talked together about the importance of buying directly from the miners rather than middlemen, whenever possible.

In 2022, he greeted me as “sister!” and when I asked him about a certain mineral, he only had larger pieces available. When I said I needed smaller sizes, he told me it would be no problem and grabbed a hammer. A few minutes later, I had the sizes I needed.

Selenite is a must-have for every crystal collector. Most mineral specimens are a brilliant white gem that flashes in the light.  But it can also be orange, yellow or green!  Translucent Selenite is the gemmy version of Gypsum and Alabaster.  It usually grows in long wands, but it an also form into delicate Desert Roses, white as salt or earth-toned from the soil.  Selenite grows in extremely dry desert environments and so water can damage it.  It is a soft stone that needs to be handled with care.  Its reputation for bestowing blessings and healing the body dates back to the medieval period.  Today, healers often use it to cleanse and charge other crystals.
