This Serpentine was created when two small tectonic plates slowly collided in southwestern China, with the Yangtze plate climbing on top of the Cathaysia plate. The combination of low-heat and steady pressure transformed some of the igneous rocks in the area into metamorphic stones, including turning Olivine (better known as Peridot) into Serpentine. This event happened approximately 800 million years ago, during a time when all of the world’s continents were pushed together into an ancient supercontinent called Rodinia.

I love how my Serpentine feels. It’s interesting: I initially selected a different one, but then Julie intuitively felt that this one was the one for me since it was emphatic about wanting to work with me, and now I understand why.
