Shattuckite is rare vivid blue mineral found in copper deposits. It’s often mixed with other copper-minerals, such as Azurite, Chrysocolla, Dioptase, and Malachite. Most of the crystals on the market come from either the Sonoran desert of the American Southwest or the Kalahari desert in southern Africa. The crystal was named after Lemuel C. The Shattuckite feels a little heavier to me, and I’m not sure why that is. Maybe it’s a visual thing—there’s a lot of play in the blues of the stones in the photo; the blue in mine is uniformly deep and solid. Maybe solid is more the word, rather than heavy. It has a solid feel to it.
