Supply Chain for Stichtite

This Stichtite comes from a small-scale mine in Tasmania, Australia. It has a low environmental impact and is low risk for miners.

This lapidary hand-polishes stones in Mumbai, India. It is owned by two long-time friends and business partners. Unusual for India, factory workers have safe conditions and are paid fairly. It is also an exporter and sells exclusively at large gem shows.

I first met this source at the 2017 Denver Gem Show. Our first encounter was short since it was my last day of shopping and I had already spent most of my budget, but their polished stock was the highest quality I had ever seen. A few months later, we met again in Tucson and this time I made sure to visit them at the beginning of the show!

In 2019, I was able to sit down with both owners and have a lengthy conversation about sourcing. Unlike most lapidaries, they were willing to speak with me in-depth about how they ensure their business is ethical. We talked about individual mines in India as well as how they source from other countries. We also talked about how they treat their own workers and about the links between business, karma, and God. Their willingness to talk and their pleasure at the conversation made me eager to develop and deepen this relationship.

Stichtite Healing, Mineralogy, and History

Published April 2016  •  Updated November 2024  •  Read Time: 6 minutes
Stichtite is a a fabulous purple mineral that is found in a few small deposits around the world.  Most of the specimens on the market, however, are from the island of Tasmania, off the coast of Australia.  This is also the only known deposit for Atlantisite, a striking combination of rich purple Stichtite and vivid green Seprentine.  In it’s pure form, it has one of the most joyful and youthful energies of any healing crystal.  It can help us to bounce back after set backs and heal cleanly after emotional trauma.  It can help us to forgive and to give other people the benefit of the doubt, and be willing to love again.
