The Story Behind Today’s Gift
She doesn’t show the world that she’s scared and sick with grief. She works hard to appear happy and pretends it’s all okay. She doesn’t want to burden or bother anyone. She’s handling it so well all by herself. People either don’t know that anything’s wrong, or else they marvel at her strength. But you see, her mom’s cancer has come back for the third time and… and….and…. the rest is unspeakable, unthinkable, unbearable. So she just bottles it up and puts on a hopeful smile.
Her roommate knows the truth and it breaks her heart. She lost her own mother to cancer many years ago. So she knows and she cares. She wants to reach out and offer more support, both for what’s happening right now, as well as for whatever might come.
Stilbite has a very soft energy that supports us when a difficult situation threatens to emotionally overwhelm us. Rather than forcing ourselves to be strong and holding ourselves so rigid, Stilbite tells us that it’s okay to relax and to let ourselves feel. It helps us to acknowledge and breath through our greatest fears. It reminds us that we are not alone and that other people have felt experienced this same fear before and somehow made it through. Stilbite helps us to take things one day at a time and to stay present in the moment. It also sweetly whispers that it’s okay to lean on other people and that we are not a burden or a bother. It teaches us that having a heart full of love, is a powerful, beautiful thing. It is not a sign of weakness. There is a time and place for each emotion, even fear and grief, and we don’t have to hide the dark ones away. Sometimes those dark emotions are appropriate for the situation. Stilbite asks us to be very kind to our own heart and to not hold ourselves aloof. It’s okay to be raw and messy sometimes. Stilbite helps us to let people in who can understand and support us. It promises us that come what may, we will never be alone.
