Jade’s energy offers an elegant balance of joy and peace

Jade is a popular name that is used for two different minerals, Nephrite and Jadeite.  Both minerals come in every shade of the rainbow.  Jadeite is the more precious variety and is mined primarily in remote jungles in Kachin State in northern Myanmar (Burma).  These mines bring in billions of dollars annually, which has tragically led to exploitation at the mines and decades of conflict in the region.  “Burma Jade” is a conflict gemstone, a jewel that finances social harm, similar to a Blood Diamond.  At Moonrise Crystals, we have Purple Jadeite from Turkey and Blue Jadeite from California, both of which have exceptionally good scores for ethical sourcing.  The green and black Jades are Nephrite and come from Canada, Greenland, and Peru.
