Serpentine is a generic name given to a family of 16 closely-related soft green minerals. Sometimes these minerals are called by their scientific name, like Lizardite. Other times, collectors may use marketing names like Infinite and Healerite. When mixed with purple Stichtite, it’s sometimes called Atlantisite. In some cases, these green gems can look and feel similar to Jade. In fact, some cheap “Jade” jewelry and sculptures are actually made from “New Jade” Serpentine. At Moonrise Crystals, our Lizardite comes from Norway. The dark green Infinite comes from South Africa, while light green comes from India. We also carry Serpentine from China and Peru.
