Topaz is eager to share its happy and hopeful energy
Topaz is usually colorless, but can be blue, green, orange, or pink. Natural gems are usually pale or pastel. The vividly-colored gems sold in fine jewelry stores are often heat-treated. At Moonrise Crystals all of our Topaz is fully natural. The Imperial Topaz comes from Brazil, while the white and blue Topaz are from central Nigeria. From an ethical sourcing perspective, central Nigeria offers insight into complexity. The area has a long history of conflicts between Muslim herders and Christian farmers, a situation exasperated by climate change. Artisanal mining is one of the few activities that both groups participate and benefit from. Moonrise Crystals is monitoring and learning from this region.
