Healing Properties of Auralite 23

Spiritual: Auralite 23 is an incredibly versatile crystal, helping us to work with high vibration energies while staying deeply connected to our own bodies and the earth.  It helps us to feel the presence of angels and other spirit guides, and to feel the Divine working in tandem with us in every aspect of our lives.  Auralite 23 increases psychic gifts and also teaches us how to better protect ourselves energetically.  It is an excellent tool for meditation, helping to clear the mind and ground the body and can be used in shamanic rituals to cut away old negative karmic ties that hold us back from reaching our full potential. Auralite 23 is also an excellent manifestation stone, helping us move from merely thinking and talking about the things we wish to accomplish, to actively engaging in the work and bringing our dreams into reality.  Auralite 23  is attuned to ALL Chakras and astrological signs. It is connected to the Wind and Earth and vibrates to all numbers.

Emotional: Auralite 23 has an exceptionally peaceful energy, soothing our spirit during times of stress or worry.  It helps us to see alternative paths, and to use our head, both intuitively and logically, to protect our heart from undue danger.  Auralite 23 strongly encourages us to make self-care a priority and to be much kinder to ourselves.  It releases us from prejudices and unnecessary judgement and asks us to be equally compassionate towards others.  Auralite 23 reminds us to look around and see the many blessings in our current life.  It further encourages us to meet each experience with a desire to be the best version of ourselves possible in that moment.  Auralite 23’s energy sweetly nudges us to be more generous, loving and forgiving in all our relationships, including that most private one with ourselves.

Mental: Auralite 23 is a wonderful stone for our minds, bringing clarity, focus, awareness and self-confidence.  It removes any attachments to self-limitation and shows us a more expansive view of the world and our place in it.  Auralite 23 unites intuition with logic, and encourages us to focus on solving problems, rather than bemoaning their existence.  This is one of the most powerful crystals to use when fighting against addictions of all sorts. It helps us to make peace with our past and present, and then to focus all of our energy on moving forward into a more beautiful future.

Physical: Auralite 23 is primarily used to ease bruising, tension, as well as to treat problems associated with the circulatory system.  It is often used by metaphysical healers to support the body during detoxes, and is said to be particularly supportive of the liver.  Auralite 23 is also used to treat a wide range of chronic conditions, including insomnia, and to help the body return to its original state of health and vitality.  Auralite 23 is also believed to help treat sexual dysfunctions, including those that have an emotional/mental root-cause, as well as those that are primarily physical.

Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Mineral Family: Auralite 23 is a unique type of Amethyst found in Canada.  Amethyst is the purple variety of Quartz, which is in turn a Silicate mineral, and belongs to the same family as Clear Quartz, Citrine, Rose Quartz, Smoky Quartz and Prasiolite.  While Amethyst is the main mineral in Auralite 23, as the name indicates there can be up to 23 distinct minerals found as inclusions within this stone, making it more of a “rock” rather than a mineral.  The average Auralite 23 crystal contains anywhere from 4-17 of the following minerals: Ajoite, Bronite, Cacoxenite, Chalcopyrite, Copper, Covellite, Epidote, Geothite, Gilalite, Gold, Hematite, Iron, Lepidocrosite, Limonite, Magnetite, Nickel, Platinum, Pyrite, Pyrolusite, Rutile, Shpalerite, Silver, and Titanite.

Formation: Normally Amethyst is created when liquid magma from a volcanic explosion cools down and transforms into igneous rocks. During this cooling down period, silica acid bubbles shift from being a gas/liquid into a solid compound. The bubble becomes a hollow space in the igneous rock and the silica acid becomes Quartz crystals. Trace particles of iron within the silica acid gives Amethyst its purple color, otherwise the silica acid would transform into Clear Quartz.  In the case of Auralite 23, additional traces of elements and minerals were floating in the silica acid and solidify within the Amethyst crystal.

Mining: Auralite 23 is mined in exclusively in the Auralite 23 Mine within the Boreal Forest near Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada.  The mine owners use hand-operated tools.

History of Auralite 23

Auralite 23 is a new crystal for the metaphysical community and as such was not included in any of the ancient or medieval lapidaries, texts that describe gemstones and their powers.  It may be included in some of the newest lapidaries. It’s energy was first widely described by Robert Simmons.  Auralite 23 is primarily composed of purple Amethyst, with noticeable inclusions of red Hematite. It often occurs with beautiful chevron patterns.

Auralite 23 is mined near Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, a district which has long produced beautiful Amethyst and Hematite specimens.  According to some metaphysical sources, meteorites may have hit the area around Thunder Bay just prior to the Auralite 23’s creation, thus accounting for the unusually high amount of trace metals in the crystals.  Unfortunately, this claim is not backed up by any clear scientific evidence.

Intriguingly, Auralite 23 crystals have been successfully dated to as far back as 1.2 billion years ago.  This makes them them one of the oldest gemstones available on the market! That dating means that these crystals would have formed around the same time that sexual reproduction was first documented in the fossil record, resulting in an evolutionary explosion among living creatures.

Sourcing Relationship

I had previously carried Auralite 23 from another source.  At the 2020 Tucson Gem Show I had the great pleasure of meeting the owner of the Auralite 23 mine.  His eight-year-old daughter immediately took charge of me and showed me all of their Auralites.  After getting the full tour, I asked if they had anything tumbled and she showed me both tumbled stones and cabachons.  She then declared that the cabachons are better and offered to help me pick out the best ones.  This little girl was born the same year the mine opened, she IS Auralite 23.

After all the stones were picked through, the father and I had a long talk.  I told him how rare it is to see a mine that advertises itself as “ethical” and asked him to elaborate.  He told me all about their mining processes, from the seasons they work and the equipment they use, to how they monitor the brook trout, which are an environmentally-sensitive species.  I asked him about choosing the Chinese lapidary and we discussed the pros and cons and the complexities of the industry.  We spoke of religious beliefs and divine paths.  We took each other’s measure and liked what we saw.  When we were done talking, the little girl presented me with an Auralite 23 mandala because “we give crystals to the people we like.”
