Healing Properties of Azurite Granite (K2)
Spiritual: Azurite represents the desire to find and maintain Enlightenment in this lifetime. It increases our connection to the Divine and helps us to act in alignment with our own Highest Self. It encourages us to take control over our own spiritual development and to continue to break through any barriers which hold us back. Azurite stimulates our psychic powers, and increases the accuracy of psychic, tarot, runes, and other readings. It also facilitates meditation and channeling, and helps us to communicate clearly about spiritual matters. When enclosed in a Granite matrix, it helps us to differentiate between what we believe and what we know. It encourages us to stay grounded and keep in mind the big picture. Azurite Granite is attuned to the Third Eye and Crown Chakras and linked to the astrological signs of Libra and Sagittarius. It is connected to the element of Wind and vibrates to the numbers 1 and 2.
Emotional: Azurite vibrates with a hunger for truth, justice, and courage. As a result, it blows away irrational fears and asks us to regain control of our negative emotions rather than letting them control us. Azurite helps us to understand the root behind our fear, anger, sadness, and other uncomfortable emotions. In particular, Azrurite asks us to entertain the thought that perhaps our emotions are based on beliefs from the past, which might not be true anymore – or may never have been true at all! Having found a deeper understanding of our own emotions, Azurite then challenges us to take the appropriate actions to respond to life’s complex situations in a more mature and kind fashion. Azurite is a fantastic stone to work with when people are struggling to be honest with each other, and want to have a healthier and happier relationship. When enclosed in a Granite matrix, it encourages diplomacy and to deal with negative situations immediately, before they have a chance to grow larger.
Mental: Azurite is a stone which celebrates critical thinking at the highest level. It is a wonderful stone for scientists in every discipline as its energy aligns with tenets of the scientific method and the quest for truth. Azurite increases our hunger for personal experiences and the need to do our own diligent research, rather than relying on the information and opinions of others. Azurite encourages us to be more aware of our self and our impact on others, and to cultivate self-knowledge. It stimulates creativity and encourages life-long learning. When enclosed in a Granite matrix, it balances healthy skepticism with the need to keep an open mind.
Physical: Azurite is used by metaphysical healers to treat disorders and illness in the head and brain, such as migraines, tinnitus, and problems with vertigo. It is also said to stimulate the liver and help the body during detoxes. One of its most successful uses, however, is to explore and cure hypochondria and psychosomatic illnesses. Granite is likewise associated with disorders affecting the head, face, and hair.
Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.
Mineralogy of Azurite Granite (K2)
Color: White with large blue spots and tiny black dots
Texture: Medium to Course
Location: This rare sky-blue Azurite in a white Granite matrix is found exclusively in Pakistan.
Mineral Family: Azurite Granite (K2) is not a mineral, but rather a rock. An easy way to understand the difference is that rocks are like cookies and minerals are ingredients such as flour or sugar. Many different minerals are used to create a rock! In the case of Azurite Granite, it is primarily a white Granite (igneous rock) made up of white feldspar, Clear Quartz and tiny black biotite grains. The most notable aspect of this stone is the rare inclusion of the Carbonate mineral Azurite. While usually a dark indigo blue, in this matrix the Azurite is a vivid sky blue and forms dots across the Granite surface.
Formation: Granite crystallizes deep under the earth, gradually rising to the surface. Many secondary minerals are formed within Granite, including gemstones like Aquamarine, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, and Tourmaline. The Azurite on this stone is one such secondary mineral, which forms as a circular light stain. On occasion, traces of green Malachite, a mineral closely related to Azurite, may also be found.
Mining: Azurite Granite is mined in a remote area visited by few people and so little is known about the specific mining practices. It can be inferred that the methods are relatively simple and small, due to simple inaccessibility.
Enhancements: At first glance, many people believe that Azurite Granite has been dyed or painted. In fact, all Azurite Granites are fully natural, enhanced only by tumbling, cutting and polishing.

History of Azurite Granite (K2)
Azurite Granite is a relatively “new” healing stone whose healing properties have only recently begun to be explored. It is found exclusively near the base of K2, the second tallest mountain in the world at over 28,251 ft above sea level. K2 is located on the border between Pakistan and China, but Azurite Granite has thus far been found only on the Pakistani side.

This Azurite Granite (K2) was polished in a Chinese Factory for an American wholesale company.
The wholesaler is a family-business run by two brothers who visit mines around the world.
The family was originally from Pakistan and still has local connections.
In some locations, they polish the rough stones in the same country as the mine.
In other cases, they export the rough stones and have them polished in China.
In both cases, factory workers have safe conditions and are paid fairly.

I first encountered the US wholesaler at the 2015 Franklin, North Carolina Gem and Mineral Show. They carry a wide-variety of tumbled stones, both common and rare. The family is originally from Pakistan and was the first company to import K2, sky-blue Azurite from the famous mountain. When I first saw K2 I knew it was real, but didn’t know what it was and so approached one of the owners. He and I had an instant rapport.
Years later, we greet with a hug and he expects me to have questions about all his new stock. He tells me, with justifiable pride, about all the improvements he’s made to his business since we last spoke. In 2019, this source began to label all their stones with country-of-origin. When I asked him why, he told me that he listens to his customers and I keep asking him where all the stones come from.
