Rock Type: Azurite-Malachite is a combination of two Carbonate minerals. Carbonates are an important part of the Earth’s crust and are found in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. Carbonates are minerals which contain the carbonate group CO3 as their basic structural unit. They form in a trigonal system with one Carbon atom centrally located between 3 Oxygen atoms. While there are over 70 types of Carbonate minerals, the most common are Dolomite, Siderite, and Calcite, while some rare but well known Carbonates include Aragonite, Magnesite and Rhodochrosite. Azurite is an indigo blue Carbonate, while Malachite is vivid green.

Formation: Azurite-Malachite is not a mineral, but rather a rock. An easy way to understand the difference is that rocks are like cookies and minerals are ingredients such as flour or sugar. Many different minerals are used to create a rock! In the case of Azurite-Malachite, it is a combination of two Copper minerals.  Copper typically forms as a sulphide, which oxidizes when exposed to water. If that water also contains carbonic acid, it dissolves the copper and forms new compounds, including green Malachite and blue Azurite.   If the stone forms as thin layers, one mineral on top of the other, it is considered a Sedimentary rock.  If the two minerals are mixed together more randomly, it is considered a metamorphic rock.

Mining: Typically mined in Copper quarries and in relationship to their primary stone. Azurite-Malachite be found as rounded nodules, stalactites, and, rarely, encrusted slabs.

Enhancements: All Azurite-Malachites are natural, enhanced only by tumbling, cutting, and polishing.

Synonyms: Azurmalachite, Bluebird

Healing Properties of Azurite-Malachite

Spiritual: Azurite-Malachite is a powerful meditation stone which helps us to journey deep within ourselves and discover our Highest Self. It ignites within us the ability and knowledge to positively transform ourselves in a myriad of ways so that our “normal life” and our “spiritual life” are in true alignment. Azurite-Malachite sharpens the gaze of our Third Eye, allowing us to better recognize and use our natural psychic gifts. It is attuned to the Solar Plexus, Heart, Third Eye, and Crown Chakras and linked to the astrological signs of Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn. It is connected to the elements of Wind and Fire and vibrates to the number 1 and 9.

Emotional: Azurite-Malachite encourages us to be more curious, a phenomenon with inherently reduces anxiety and makes us less egotistical. It helps us to see other people in a kind light, recognizing the good they do or at least the interesting thoughts they provoke! Azurite-Malachite increases our self-confidence and our ability to understand our own emotions, including suppressed emotions. It can also help us to identify our emotional triggers and understand how to better deal with them. Azurite-Malachite gives us the courage and willingness to look at our fears directly and ask ourselves whether or not these fears are based on truth or are figments of our own imagination. If, as is often the case, the fear is largely imaginary, Azurite-Malachite urges us to move beyond the fear and make decisions based on what is real. It reminds us that we are the masters of our own fate and champions in our own life!

Mental: Azurite-Malachite helps us to freshen our thinking when we are stuck in a rut. It encourages us to shake off any lazy habits and instead try something new. It nudges us to take real action and to be more flexible in how we approach life. It also encourages us to actively deal with anything that is bothering us in the “back of our mind” rather than just pushing it further back. Azurite-Malachite inspires us to be more curious and to follow our thoughts all the way to their logical end, rather than making assumptions based on old data. It celebrates intelligence and rationality, and encourages us to follow paths of compassion, harmony, and kindness.

Physical: Azurite-Malachite is said to increase flexibility and treat disorders associated with the joints, including arthritis. It is believed to reduce inflammation, and can help repair tissues after injury or illness. It is commonly used by metaphysical healers to heal stress-related problems, such as ulcers, headaches, and cramps.

Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Safe Handling of Azurite-Malachite

Earth to Pocket

Earth to Pocket is the Moonrise Crystal business mission. It’s the promise that any stones purchased here will be consciously sourced and the journeTumbled Azurite-Malachite Stoney of the stone, from the Earth and into your Pocket, will be as transparent as possible.

These Azurite-Malachites were mined in Morocco and tumbled in South Africa.

I met the owner of the South African tumbling company at the 2014 Gem and Mineral show in Tucson, Arizona. This company only sells tumbled stones twice a year, once at the Tucson show and later at the Sainte Marie Aux Mines International Mineral and Gem Expo in Provence, France. They offer the largest selection of high quality tumbled stones in the industry and are one of my favorite suppliers.

It would be my pleasure to hand-select a beautiful Azurite-Malachite for you.

Your Stone

This price is for one stone.Tumbled Azurite-Malachite Stone

You can buy a single tumbled Azurite-Malachite or several, depending on your individual needs. Each Azurite-Malachite measures approximately 1 inch at its longest length and has a unique shape with soft edges. Tumbled stones are natural products and variations are part of their beauty.

The stone I choose for you will be smooth, chunky, and free of chips, with a mixture of green Malachite and dark blue Azurite. If you buy multiple stones, I will choose stones that look and feel particularly good together. Stones will be cleansed and smudged with sage before being shipped to you.

With their beautiful color and clean energies, these tumbled Azurite-Malachites are perfect for crystal healing. Add them to a medicine bag, place them on an altar, fashion them into jewelry, or simply carry them in your pocket.
