Location: While Rubies and Fuchsite are found separately in various locations worldwide, they are found in only a few locations together, including; Brazil, Kenya, and Pakistan. The majority of Ruby Fuchsites currently on the market come from mines near Madikeri, India.
Mineral Family: Ruby Fuchsite is not a single mineral, but rather a rock. As an easy way to understand the difference, think of rocks as being like cookies and minerals as being the ingredients which make up those cookies. Many different minerals are used to create a rock! In the case of Ruby Kyanite, typically just two minerals are present, blue Fuchsite and red Corundum (Ruby)
Formation: Ruby Fuchsite is a rare type of metamorphic rock created by regional metamorphism and hydrothermal alteration. Both Fuchsite and Rubies are formed during the metamorphic process in various locations around the globe. However, in India these two minerals are occasionally fused together into a single stone.
Mining: Ruby Fuchsites are mined at their primary deposit, the principal purpose being to mine gem-quality Rubies, although any type of Ruby is collected. Most Rubies are mined using alluvial mining techniques – which simply means that an area is flooded to wash the rubies (which are heavy) out from the gravel and mud. Recently, however, a opaque Rubies in a Fuchsite matrix have become collectors items.
Enhancements: The Rubies in Ruby Fuchsite are not gem quality, but the all aspects of the stone are completely natural, enhanced only by tumbling, cutting, and polishing.

Safe Handling of Ruby Fuchsite
Ruby Fuchsite contains Aluminum and as such should NOT be used to make direct-infusion “Ruby Fuchsite water” for drinking or bathing. Having too much Aluminum in the body is toxic, and drinking direct-infusion elixirs of Aluminum-derived stones is dangerous. You can however, make a safe elixir using an indirect method – simply place the stone near, but not touching, the water.

Ruby Fuchsite can be energetically cleansed using any method. They will appreciate being soaked in fresh water, set outside to absorb the moonlight, and/or being smudged with smoke or incense. Use your own intuition to determine the best method.
Ruby Fuchsite can be left in sunshine for extended periods of time without losing their color, especially if the stone is opaque, rather than translucent or transparent. However, it is always considered a “best practice” to keep your stones and crystals out of direct sunlight as much as possible.
