Healing Properties of Ruby Matrix

Spiritual: Ruby Matrix kindles in us an intense desire to live our lives fully alive and to keep in mind the “Big Picture” – what really matters in life. It encourages us to be more spontaneous, curious, brave, and also to strive for balance and beauty in every area of our life. Ruby is an essentially positive and life-affirming stone, and thus has no patience for self-destructive behaviors or victim-mentality. Its Granulite Matrix reminds us to take care of disagreeable situations and negative energy immediately, while they are still small and easy to manage. Ruby Matrix is a wonderful abundance stone and can be used to manifest money and encourage us to be generous in how we use our wealth. Ruby Matrix is attuned to the Root and Heart Chakras and linked to the astrological signs of Cancer, Leo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius. It is connected to the elements of Earth and vibrates to the numbers 2 and 3.

The Story Behind Today’s Gift

Emotional: Ruby Matrix combines the fiery passion of Ruby with the wise and discerning energy of Granulite. Together, this stone helps us to build and maintain healthy relationships. Ruby attracts romantic love, while Granulite reminds us to choose carefully and not allow scarcity thinking to direct our romantic life. Ruby Matrix joyfully tells us that we deserve to love and be loved, and to have good, kind, loyal, and loving relationships. It is a stone of hope and romance, shaking off jaded skepticism and reminding us of the awesome power of Love.

Mental: Ruby Matrix helps us to see the “Big Picture” without getting overwhelmed or feeling like we are too small to make a difference. Ruby encourages us to be actively involved in our communities and to enjoy social activities. It stimulates our mind, helping us to stay engaged, thoughtful, and able to perform well under pressure. Whereas the Granulite helps us to stay focused on what really matters, and not get distracted by unimportant details. Ruby Matrix encourages us to act nobly, leading by example and taking care of those in need. It reminds us to act according to our true values and to nurture the best parts of ourselves and our world.

Physical: Ruby Matrix is used by metaphysical healers to treat the physical heart, circulatory system, infertility, and low energy. It is believed to stimulate the immune system, particularly fevers – which help to fight off infections. It is also said to bring a healthy shine to hair and skin, helping our natural beauty to shine.

Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Rock Family: Ruby Matrix is not a mineral, but rather a rock. An easy way to understand the difference is that rocks are like cookies and minerals are ingredients such as flour or sugar. Many different minerals are used to create a rock! In the case of this stone it’s Rubies enclosed in Granulite, a metamorphic stone principally composed of Feldspar, with minor inclusions of Garnet, Quartz, Spinal.

Formation: Rubies typically grow in metamorphic rocks. Because mining from primary deposits is not economically profitable, most Rubies are mined in secondary deposits, located downstream from the primary deposit where they were formed.

Mining: Because of its weight, Ruby is generally easy to separate from river gravels and can be picked out by hand. In many locations production methods are still primitive, little more than simple holes and tunnels in the ground. In the most important deposits, mechanized machinery is used above and underground. Only 1% of all Rubies recovered are gem quality and used in fine jewelry.

Enhancements: Ruby Matrix can be considered fully natural, enhanced only by cutting, tumbling, and polishing.

Other Names: Ruby Granulite, Ruby Rock

History of Ruby Matrix

Ruby Matrix does not have its own unique history and is not included in any known lapidaries, texts that describe gemstones and their powers. Rubies, of course, have a very rich history and many metaphysical traditions. However, the Matrix stone, Granulite, is almost entirely unknown in the metaphysical world and so its powers are still being explored.

Sourcing Relationship

I first met the owner of the lapidary in 2014 at the Gem and Mineral show in Tucson, Arizona.  It was my first buying trip for my own store and I was nervous.  Most lapidary owners were brisk and impatient with my questions, especially when I asked about the mines and the supply chains.   But one man stood out to me as particularly patient and kind.  He had been a whole-seller for over twenty years, yet he was happy to meet someone brand-new to the industry.

He took time to talk to me about the stones.  They came from his home country of India and he was able to tell me exactly which state or territory each one came from and some of the conditions at the individual mines.  When I told him that I wanted to source ethically, he said that it would be difficult, but that it was worthwhile challenge.  He made me feel like I could succeed, both at ethical sourcing and at being a business woman.

I looked forward to a long business relationship with him.  He died, unexpectedly, in 2016.

I stayed in touch with his family and in 2017 met his wife, teenage daughter, and his father.  This three-generation family has picked up the pieces and learned how to run the business.  The wife had never worked before, but she has gracefully stepped into her new role as a business owner.  Her father-in-law offers practical and moral support, but makes sure that everyone knows that SHE is the boss and that checks should be written directly to her.  The family continues to be supportive of my efforts to ethically source.  More than any other lapidary, they are willing to speak openly with me about the difficult parts of the industry.

Thank you, Julie. I received them and they’re lovely. I’m particularly fond of the ruby kyanite, the lapis lazuli and the ruby matrix which is stunning. (And a triangle shape? How fun!) Thank you again. I’ll be back again when I can afford another splurge, haha.

The ruby matrix is awesome! The rubies really stand out beautifully against the gray matrix! It’s so sparkly too! And a couple of the rubies have some blue in them too! It’s also flat enough on one side to stand up like a little tower. I love it!
