Healing Properties of Danburite

Spiritual: Danburite has a very soft and high vibration which brings peace to our mind and heart.  It provides a connection between us and the Divine and all the angelic realms.  Danburite is particularly good for helping us to feel the presence of our loved ones who have passed over.  It promises us that anything that we don’t understand right now, will one day be made clear and until then, we are being watched over, guided and loved.  Danburite is one of the very best stones for reiki healers to work with.  It is also an excellent meditation crystal especially for serious seekers of enlightenment.  Danburite is attuned to the Heart (4th) and Crown (7th) Chakras and linked to astrological sign of Leo.  It is connected to the element of Wind and vibrates to the number 4.

Emotional: Danburite is very soothing to the emotional body.  It supports us so that we can let our light shine bright, regardless of any pain in our past or present.  It comforts us when we are grieving, helps us to feel safe when we are scared, and encourages us to let go of resentment and anger.  Danburite teaches us how to let go of any negativity that is trapped inside us and how to release anything which no longer serves us.  It is particularly good at helping us move forward when we feel trapped by our past.  Danburite gently pushes us until we get moving again and then smooths the path before us.

Mental: Danburite helps us to recognize how our spiritual leanings and our earthy mission can be combined.  It shows us how to be of service to the world and how to do our part to elevate the vibration of the planet and our species.  It invites us to sit down with an open-mind and open-heart, and to be more interested in understanding something, rather than simply being right.  Danburite offers us gifts of patience and serenity.  It can also be used to facilitate lucid dreaming.

Physical: Danburite is used by metaphysical healers to treat allergies and to detox the liver and gallbladder.  It is also said to aid muscular and motor functioning.  If consciously directed, Danburite is also believed to be helpful in gaining needed weight.  Most often, it is used to treat diseases which come from mental/emotional stress.

Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Mineral Family: Danburite is a Silicate mineral. Silicate minerals form the largest family of minerals, including more than 25% of all known minerals and 40% of all common minerals. In addition to being a major part of the Earth’s crust, Silicate minerals have also been found on the moon and in meteorites. Silicates are minerals which contain the elements Silicon (a light gray shiny metal) and Oxygen (a colorless gas). Together, these two elements form a tetrahedron – a shape similar to a pyramid – with a Silicon atom in the center and Oxygen atoms at each of the four corners. These tetrahedra connect with other chemical structures, in six different ways, to form various minerals and rocks. There are six main groups of Silicate minerals, and these main groups are further subdivided into secondary subdivisions, such as Quartz and Feldspar. Danburite belongs to the sorosilicate family, in which two tetrahedral groups share a single oxygen molecule. It is closely related to DragonstoneEpidote, Tanzanite, ThuliteVesuvianite and Zoisite.

Associated Minerals: ChalcopyriteFluorite, Smoky Quartz, and Sapphire

Formation: Danburite is typically formed by low-temperature contact metamorphism. It is sometimes found in Quartz veins and pegmites.

Enhancements: Danburites are fully natural and have been enhanced only by tumbling, cutting, and polishing,

History of Danburite

Danburite is a relatively new stone for the metaphysical community.  As a result it is not included in any of the ancient or medieval lapidaries, texts that describe gemstones and their powers.  It is, however, included in most modern lapidaries because of its high vibration.

Danburite was first described in 1839, by the American mineralogist Charles Upham Shephard (1804-1886).  During his lifetime he had one of the largest mineral and meteorite collections in the United States.  He was a professor of Natural History at Yale University and helped create a geological survey of Connecticut in 1835.  During this survey, several new minerals were discovered, including Danburite.  The original Danburites were not gem-quality, but rather a dull white-yellow stone.  He named it after the small town of Danbury, Connecticut where it was found.

The Supply Chain is relatively short but likely clean.

The Mine and the Lapidary are located in different countries, with one middleman involved.

The Mine

This White Danburite is from a small mine in Aguascalientes, Mexico.

The exact deposit is unknown, and most likely had safe conditions for workers,

and caused only minor environmental damage.

Sourcing Relationship

I first encountered this source at the 2017 Denver Gem Show.  They specialize in tumbled stones at exactly the size I prefer and from many of the sources I already buy from.  While I normally have to buy crystals in 1 lb or 1 kilo bags, at this source I can handpick every single stone.  So if I only need to restock a few stones or if I need to be especially picky in my selection, I will visit them. Every so often they will have something new that I haven’t seen before.  They buy directly from mines and lapidaries and are the only wholesaler I’ve met that have a clear supply-chain.

  1. Beth S. (Kentucky)

This Danburite is more lovely than I can express in words. It looks clear in some lights and subtly pink-peach in others, and when held in Sunlight it’s full of flash and rainbows. I also love that it’s a point, but not sharp enough to poke through a cloth bag or pocket. And it stands up! Its energy is as exquisitely bright yet gentle as it looks, a powerful yet subtle, enigmatic, loving energy. This stone seems likely to prove among the most important to my work of all those I have.

They just arrived in perfect conduction, they are beautiful.

  3. Beth S. (Kentucky)

It’s gorgeous with its dazzling internal angles and rainbows and its subtle pink color, but even more than its beauty, wow is it one powerful stone! And the perfect one for me just now.

I received my crystals this afternoon and they are so beautiful and amazing!! I will definitely mediate with each of them. Your kind words are appreciated more than you know and have lifted me up in a special way. Also, can’t wait to brew my tea. Thank you for this nice touch and my beautiful crystal stones.

  5. Paul K. (Massachusetts)

Received them yesterday. They all have a clear and powerful energy and I am super happy with them. Most of all: I didn’t need to cleanse them energetically, as I typically need to with stones from most other sources. You do a great job! Will definitely order again!

  6. Jennifer S. (Colorado)

I adore the white danburite! It’s so much prettier in person than I thought it would be, and I love how it looks like a polished crystal point! Since you mentioned it, I had to go looking for the slight pink, and under the right light, I found it! Very cool!

  7. Laurie W. (Nevada)

  8. Vicki H. (Texas)
