Mineral Family: Danburite is a Silicate mineral. Silicate minerals form the largest family of minerals, including more than 25% of all known minerals and 40% of all common minerals. In addition to being a major part of the Earth’s crust, Silicate minerals have also been found on the moon and in meteorites. Silicates are minerals which contain the elements Silicon (a light gray shiny metal) and Oxygen (a colorless gas). Together, these two elements form a tetrahedron – a shape similar to a pyramid – with a Silicon atom in the center and Oxygen atoms at each of the four corners. These tetrahedra connect with other chemical structures, in six different ways, to form various minerals and rocks. There are six main groups of Silicate minerals, and these main groups are further subdivided into secondary subdivisions, such as Quartz and Feldspar. Danburite belongs to the sorosilicate family, in which two tetrahedral groups share a single oxygen molecule. It is closely related to DragonstoneEpidote, Tanzanite, ThuliteVesuvianite and Zoisite.

Associated Minerals: ChalcopyriteFluorite, Smoky Quartz, and Sapphire

Formation: Danburite is typically formed by low-temperature contact metamorphism. It is sometimes found in Quartz veins and pegmites.

Mining: Danburite is mined at its primary deposit, as a secondary mineral within mines.

Enhancements: Danburites are fully natural and have been enhanced only by tumbling, cutting, and polishing,

Danburite, Danbury, Connecticut, USA

History of Danburite

Danburite is a relatively new stone for the metaphysical community.  As a result it is not included in any of the ancient or medieval lapidaries, texts that describe gemstones and their powers.  It is, however, included in most modern lapidaries because of its high vibration.

Danburite was first described in 1839, by the American mineralogist Charles Upham Shephard (1804-1886).  During his lifetime he had one of the largest mineral and meteorite collections in the United States.  He was a professor of Natural History at Yale University and helped create a geological survey of Connecticut in 1835.  During this survey, several new minerals were discovered, including Danburite.  The original Danburites were not gem-quality, but rather a dull white-yellow stone.  He named it after the small town of Danbury, Connecticut where it was found.

Healing Properties of White Danburite

Spiritual: Danburite has a very soft and high vibration which brings peace to our mind and heart.  It provides a connection between us and the Divine and all the angelic realms.  Danburite is particularly good for helping us to feel the presence of our loved ones who have passed over.  It promises us that anything that we don’t understand right now, will one day be made clear and until then, we are being watched over, guided and loved.  Danburite is one of the very best stones for reiki healers to work with.  It is also an excellent meditation crystal especially for serious seekers of enlightenment.  Danburite is attuned to the Heart (4th) and Crown (7th) Chakras and linked to astrological sign of Leo.  It is connected to the element of Wind and vibrates to the number 4.

Emotional: Danburite is very soothing to the emotional body.  It supports us so that we can let our light shine bright, regardless of any pain in our past or present.  It comforts us when we are grieving, helps us to feel safe when we are scared, and encourages us to let go of resentment and anger.  Danburite teaches us how to let go of any negativity that is trapped inside us and how to release anything which no longer serves us.  It is particularly good at helping us move forward when we feel trapped by our past.  Danburite gently pushes us until we get moving again and then smooths the path before us.

Mental: Danburite helps us to recognize how our spiritual leanings and our earthy mission can be combined.  It shows us how to be of service to the world and how to do our part to elevate the vibration of the planet and our species.  It invites us to sit down with an open-mind and open-heart, and to be more interested in understanding something, rather than simply being right.  Danburite offers us gifts of patience and serenity.  It can also be used to facilitate lucid dreaming.

Physical: Danburite is used by metaphysical healers to treat allergies and to detox the liver and gallbladder.  It is also said to aid muscular and motor functioning.  If consciously directed, Danburite is also believed to be helpful in gaining needed weight.  Most often, it is used to treat diseases which come from mental/emotional stress.

Always use wisdom when considering crystal therapies for healing.

Earth to Pocket

Earth to Pocket is the Moonrise Crystal business mission. It’s the promise that any stones purchased here will be consciously sourced and the journey of the stone, from the Earth and into your Pocket, will be as transparent as possible.

This stone was mined in Mexico and tumbled in the United States.

It would be my pleasure to hand-select a beautiful Danburite for you.

Your Stone

This price is for one stone. You can buy a single Danburite or several, depending on your individual needs. Each Danburite measures approximately 1 inch at its longest length and have a unique rectangular shape with soft edges. Tumbled stones are natural products and variations are part of their beauty.

The stone I choose for you will be a beautiful white crystals, partly opaque and partly translucent. If you buy multiple stones, I will choose stones that look and feel particularly good together. Stones will be cleansed and smudged with sage before being shipped to you.

With their beautiful colors and clean energies, these Danburite are perfect for crystal healing. Add them to a medicine bag, place them on an altar, use them in a crystal elixir, fashion them into jewelry, or simply carry them in your pocket.

Safe Handling of Danburite

Good To Know:

Danburites are physically durable stone. As long as they are rounded and without thin edges, they can be carried in a pocket or medicine bag, or worn as jewelry on an everyday basis, without significant danger of the stone chipping or breaking.

Danburite can be physically cleansed with water or a dusting cloth.

Danburite can be energetically cleansed using any method. They will appreciate being soaked in fresh water, set outside to absorb the moonlight, and/or being smudged with smoke or incense. Use your own intuition to determine the best method.

Tumbled and fully smooth Danburite can be safely used to make direct-infusion “Danburite Water” for drinking or bathing. Before making any direct-infusion elixir ALWAYS check the mineralogical properties of the stone to ensure it is not toxic. Only use fully tumbled stones or natural Quartz points in direct-infusion elixirs, never rough stones. When in doubt, make an indirect-infusion elixir instead.

White Danburites can be left in sunshine for extended periods of time. However, it is always considered a “best practice” to keep your stones and crystals out of direct sunlight as much as possible.
